This is the third time the
event is
held in Nederland. As I told last year, I've so many friends there I
cannot
absolutely miss the rally. And even I don't want to! This time anyway
LC
Emilia Romagna dont' organize the trip as they were too much involved
organising
the National Rally to be held on June 28 - 29 - 30 in Cervia, reason
for
which, being Cervia a nice place on the coast, I think many Italian
decided
to save money for that event. This for trying to explain why there
weren't
so many of us in Emmen. The lack of time and very busy German
motorways,
made me decide to do the trip by car, loading the scooter inside
(family
cars!). Anyway after a non ending trip,1.500 km, all done in one day at
around 9 pm I am at the campsite, placing my tent with the weather
promising
nothing good. I even left a very hot Italy wearing very light clothes
and
have to realize it's much cooler here. Anyway I start looking around,
meeting
some old time friends and looking for internet contacts from UK I had
to
met. It's thursday and a lot of people still have to arrive; I spend
the
evening with the lads from Sweden chatting with an old half Italian
half
Swedish mate, Marcello and eating something I don't know what is when
ordered
as the menu is Dutch written.
The day after we look for a lot of people arriving, and meet all friends from UK I have to met there. As usual it's an exciting atmosphere and in the afternoon we are headed for a 90 km. tour around the area; I like very much travelling in country roads with beatiful sightseens; since restoration I didn't have the opportunity to ride my "Supertune" a lot (too loud for lonely trips on Italian roads) and I'm finding out it really runs great though we are going at such a slow speed sometimes I think to open the throttle and leave the queue for a while. It's just a thought, and I stay quiet in the middle of it. The evening starts with a meal in the big tent at the campsite; I have to save myself from mates never ending offering beers. At 1 o'clock in the night it starts raining a lot that make us worry for the following day. Luckily in the morning it doesn't rain any longer and the weather is going to be nice all day. We are asked to park our scooters in the centre of Emmen where people will vote for their favourite scooter; the chosen scooter is a customised Lambretta Series II from UK. The afternoon see us riding for an ancient farm centre; as usual people come out their house to see us passing with the traditional Dutch enthusiasm and friendship. In the evening the gala dinner; great fun expecially when the music is over and an English bloke put his Vespa stereo equipped inside the tent and pump up the volume to the sound of Northern soul, very appreciated by everybody. Next year Italy; see ya all here! |
